Friday Poll 6_29_07 Influences
Who, besides your parents, was (or is) the most influencial person in your life and what made him or her so influencial?
Solarquest
I don't know why, but I just started thinking about this game, Solarquest, that I used to play with my sister all the time. It was basically Monopoly set in space. We were never all that interested in Monopoly, but we played Solarquest a lot. I guess I started thinking about it because I was thinking about Pluto not being a planet anymore. That is really strange to me. I know I shouldn't have blogged about this, because that completely reveals what a dork I am, but you all know that anyway, so whatever.
Tim's paintings that we bought
By the way, Tim and Sandy find out Wednesday if they are having a boy or a girl!
Friday Poll 6_22_07 Ice Cream
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Austin's Family
Here is a link to some pictures from Austin's cousin, Nikki. This is her daughter, Caroline in the pictures. They were visiting from Texas.

Missed photo op
The other day we saw these three bikers sitting outside of Starbucks. Their motorcycles were parked in front of them and they all had tatoos and facial hair and looked like pretty tough guys, but they were sitting there in front of Starbucks with their iced coffee drinks with whipped cream. I thought it was funny.
P.S. On an unrelated topic, I have lots of pictures that I'd really like to post. I just haven't had the opportunity. I will get to it soon.
Happy Father's Day!!!
Friday Poll 6_15_07 Sad Music
What kind of music do you like to listen to when your sad?
Why?
This morning I turned on the TV for a little bit and the Today show was on. The host was saying, "now, the cast from 'Legally Blonde, the musical' is going to perform" (or something like that). And then, I watched the dumbest musical number I have ever seen. I kind of liked the movie in a guilty pleasure, this is dumb, but I can't stop watching kind of way, but a musical? Why, why, why? That's like the worst idea ever.
I think I have blogger's block
What's going on with you guys?
Sopranos - one last thing
I just read this article that Austin sent me (after I made my very long comment on the last post):

Don't Stop Believin'
Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere
A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night
Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on
(chorus)
Dont stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin'
Streetlight people
To Owen... (15 months old)
You have changed so much in the last couple of months. You are really growing up. You are trying so hard to communicate with everyone. Although your vocabulary is still very limited, you can usually tell us what's going on through pointing, gesturing and making certain sounds. Like when you say "ba" and point, it means you want whatever you are pointing at. It is also fairly obvious when you want to nurse or eat something we're eating. Your daddy always seems to know when you want a drink of water.
Every time we see fish or pictures of fish, I always say, "fish" and make a fish noise with my mouth. The other day, you saw a jar in your room with little figures from "Finding Nemo." You started opening and closing your mouth like a fish and pointed. It is like you are really starting to get some of the things I've been teaching you.
You also have started to really enjoy books in the last month. You love "Goodnight Moon," but recently you have made me read "Very Hungry Caterpillar," "The Little Engine That Could," and a Baby Einstein bath book over and over again. It is very sweet when you find a book and bring it to me, saying "buh" (which sounds like book without the "k").
Lately, you have been doing this new thing to get our attention. When you are upset, you lean over and start banging your head on the floor. It isn't so bad on carpet or rugs, but when you do it on the hardwood or tile floor, we have to stop it.
You also have found a little grove between the trays on your high chair where you like to hoard food.
You really like getting up on the bed or the couch and rolling around, bouncing and jumping on the pillows. You have been getting down pretty well on your own, but you can occassionally get up on the couch on your own now. And when you can't get up on things you stand at the bottom and cry and try to get your leg up on the couch/bed/etc. And you like your chair a lot.
I think all of the teeth in the back of your mouth seem to be coming in at the same time. You are biting on everything. You stopped taking a pacifier around the time you turned one, but you chewed on a pacifier for awhile last night because of your teeth. I am going to try to get you to take a pacifier again because it would make my life easier for awhile, but we'll see what happens.
You are getting closer and closer to walking every day. You have gotten to where you walk all over the place as long as you can reach out and touch furniture or something with your hand. You are usually hardly holding on at all, but you just don't want to let go and walk.
Your favorite toys are balls and anything with wheels that you can push all over the house. And Holly's toys.
You and your daddy have gotten so much closer to each other this month. I think the beach trip helped a lot with that. You sometimes laugh hysterically at him for no reason at all. And whenever you start laughing for no reason it makes us laugh, which makes you laugh more, and it just goes on like that until we all quit laughing.
You have also been doing this thing with your head where you nod it up and down in a very exaggerated way. You do this a lot with your daddy to get his attention. When he does it back to you, you do it more. It is very cute.
My heart swells every time you smile at me and speak to me in your cute little baby language. I never knew how happy you would make me.
Love, Mama
P.S. By the way, I think you might like Cameron Diaz...
Friday Poll 6_8_07 Dumb things
What is something you've done that is really dumb, embarrassing, or weird? (see my post below for my answer)
Here's a dumb thing that happened to me...
I lost my house key today. I had to run back into the house for a second after I had already strapped Owen into his carseat. So, I took the house key off my keychain and ran into the house. Later on in the afternoon, I realized I didn't have the key. So, I started looking all over the place for it. Finally, I gave up for the time being. Tonight, when I was about to take a shower, I felt something under my right breast - my key!
The whole time I was taking a shower I kept thinking, "how the heck did my key end up there?" Finally it hit me. I was thinking about how I was at the OB/GYN today and the doctor was doing a breast exam. I thought, "surely she would've mentioned it if she had seen a key under my breast." Then I realized the key must've fallen out of my pocket when I was getting undressed. It probably fell into my bra. I was wearing a nursing bra, which almost has a little pocket area in it. So, that just HAS to be the explaination.
Anyway, I totally felt like one of those giant fat people you see on Dr. Phil or something that finds like a ham sandwich in their fat rolls.
The Sopranos
I am so excited about the last episode of the Sopranos. We just watched the first episode again last night and it is amazing how much was in just that first episode. It pretty much set up most of the storylines for the entire series - things that are still going on. And you can tell that they already knew pretty much how it was going to end from the very beginning. Anyway, if you do watch it and have a chance to, go back and watch the first episode again before this week's finale.
Nice work!
We had a problem with our water meter thingy leaking water a few weeks ago. When they came out to fix it, they dug a giant hole and cut the cable line while they were at it. The cable guy came to fix that, but a giant, muddy patch of dirt was left. Fortunately, they came out and fixed it. You can hardly even tell they were here. Nice job, guys!
Our Magnolia Tree
Apparantly no rain and weird weather creates lots of magnolia blooms on our magnolia tree. It is blooming more this year than in the past four years we've lived here.
