  Thanks!
Thanks to everyone who sent cards and gifts and to everyone who called and emailed me to wish me a happy birthday yesterday. It was a good one.

Now, I just can't wait until this dang election is over. I can see why Austin's mom is always reluctant to have anyone in the family run for office. It is pretty brutal - even in a small town. Luckily Austin has pretty thick skin, because I do not. I am just trying to stay out of everything so I don't get too stressed out. I don't want to hurt the baby.

My sweet birthday card from Ethan...
(just a reminder, ever since he could talk, Ethan has called me "B")

This was a self-portrait he drew on the envelope.

And I just loved how he colored Clifford on the back of the card.

Happy Birthday to me! (I guess I should've gotten some pictures of myself!)

  Poor little Ethan...
I have pictures from my birthday celebration this weekend, but probably won't have time to post them until tomorrow afternoon. In the meantime, I wanted to let you all know about Ethan. The poor little thing had to have stitches in his lip tonight because he fell in the bathroom and busted his lip open on the toilet. Becca told my mom that while they were stitching him up, he was perfectly still, didn't say a word and didn't cry. Of course Becca almost fainted on the way home when Ethan started picking at the stitches, trying to pull them out! And he has to eat soft foods for like a week I believe. They were going to get him a milkshake on the way home, but he said, "I don't want a milkshake. I want a burrito." He is such a sweetie pie.

Why does my computer just decide to do stupid things sometimes?
Right now, I hate Quark, Illustrator, Acrobat, Suitcase, Apple and my crappy internet connection. Sometimes I feel like smashing it with a hammer, but I'll just cry instead.

  Smelly Dog
Holly smells so bad it makes me want to throw up. Ick! Austin just gave her a bath this past weekend. I don't know why she smells so freakin' bad! Anyway, she's getting groomed tomorrow so I can continue to live with her.

  Where did fall go?
I swear it was here for like a week (okay, maybe more like a couple of days), but now summer is back. Dang it. It is 88 degrees now, although it feels like 92, and it got up to 94 degrees yesterday. Anyway, I just got back from the grocery store. The best relief I had all day from the heat was when I leaned my head into a freezer trying to reach Austin's frozen pizzas. I just wanted to crawl in there and go to sleep - it felt so good! And I know I shouldn't be complaining with the hurricaine headed toward Texas, but I'm pregnant and selfish right now.

  Some pictures...

We went to a funeral today for my mom's great aunt
I can't remember if she was 100 or 101, but wow what a long life! That's one thing that seems to run in our family - longevity. Although, I can honestly say, I don't want to live quite that long. But anyway, she was a really neat lady. My mom remembers her playing hide 'n seek with me in a department store when I was 2 and she was 75. She also remembers her getting her picture taken on Santa's lap when she was 85 years old. So, this entry is for Josephine. I hope she is at peace.

Becca sent these pictures of Ethan and Wyatt...

And these last two she sent to show Ethan and Wyatt at the same age. Of course, the most noticeable similarities are the same shirt and the affinity that they both have for their feet.

Not so Itsy Bitsy Part 2
I need to pick up a telephoto lens when I have the funds, but in the meantime, 8 megapixels will make up for it.

  Not so Itsy Bitsy
We have a new resident who lives just outside of our house. It is a giant and incredibly creepy spider. Every night she builds a giant web between our magnolia tree and our next door neighbors' tree. I think she is very effective in getting rid of the bugs, so we wouldn't dare kill her, but it is funny to watch her actions. Early in the evening we see her hard at work, building her web. Then, as the night goes on, we pull out our spotlight and check out the completed web. She is usually sitting, very still, right in the center.

If I go outside early enough in the morning, she is still sitting in the center of the web. Then she starts tearing down the web and eventually she scurries off into the magnolia tree. That's where she stays during the day. When I do see her in the morning, she is so big that I can see her all the way from the other side of the yard. One time, I was across the yard and the neighbor drove up. I think the car startled her and she crawled as fast as she could, over to the tree.

Anyway, now my new goal is to get a picture of her. I could've done it this morning, because I got closer than I ever have before and watched as she intently worked on deconstructing her web. By the time I went inside and got my camera, she was already gone. Next time, I will just bring my camera with me in the morning. She's been living there for about a week. I hope she stays for awhile.

  A Family Portrait
This is the picture we are putting on Austin's campaign literature. Austin's dad took it and I think it turned out well (no pun intended - we are standing in front of the Loganville well).

It is hard to tell whether I am sick or if I'm just having pregnancy symptoms
I am so stuffy. I feel like I have a sinus headache and I woke up with a sore throat. But, everything I hear and read says that due to an increased amount of blood in a pregnant woman's body, most pregnant women do experience frequent stuffiness. Rebecca used to get nosebleeds all the time - I've had a couple of those myself. Anyway, if I am getting sick, I don't really want to take anything. I guess I just need some saline spray. Oh, and new humidifier filters - I need to order those now!

  Good Business/Design Article
Jason Crosby just sent me this article. It is a good reminder for those of us who are artists, but sometimes don't realize what our talent is actually worth.

  Sesame Street Live
I went with my mom and sister to take the nephews to Sesame Street Live this past Saturday. Wyatt was surprisingly enthusiastic about the show. His eyes were wide open and he kept smiling and laughing and flailing his arms and legs around excitedly. Then, during intermission he nursed and slept the whole last half of the show.

Ethan really liked the show too, but the only way for us to tell is that he said he didn't want the show to end when it was over. He just stared at the show with no expression at all and would make us stop if we tried to laugh or clap or anything. It was really funny.

(excuse the crappy pictures. It was hard to tell what I was aiming at in the dark).

  At least we won.
That's about all I have to say about the game on Saturday.

Austin has decided to run for Loganville City Council. We'll see what happens...

  Here's a stupid question.
Can you put eggshells down a garbage disposal?

  Pregnancy Journal - Month 4 (Week 14)

Physical: I don't want to jinx anything, but I think the nausea is getting slightly better. Some days are pretty good, some are very bad still, but in general the days are worse in the morning and late at night. And if you doubt that morning sickness is real, ask Austin about the rotten chicken in the garbage incident or the smelly grocery store aisle from the other night.

I think my belly is growing a lot now (although I'm still not gaining a huge amount of weight). Either my belly is growing or my shirts are becoming shorter in the front!

Food: I crave something different everyday I think. Although English muffin personal pizzas are my favorites right now. And salads.

Emotional: I am feeling pretty content. I am nervous, but everything is starting to feel more real now, if that makes any sense. I am worried about getting the nursery in order and decorated. There is a lot to do before the baby comes.

Other Thoughts: The due date is March 7th. I thought that last doctor (or nurse practitioner, actually) didn't really seem to know what she was talking about when she changed the due date to March 3rd. That didn't even really make sense. Anyway, I'll be at 20 weeks on the 18th of October so hopefully they will be able to see whether we are having a boy or a girl. I feel like I'll be able to prepare more once I know that. I've got to get my work done so I can think more about getting ready for this baby!!! Are there any graphic design people out there who would like some freelance design work?

  Ethan started school today!!!
I'll let you know how it went once I talk to Rebecca. She was so nervous about it. I'm sure I'll be the same way.

  2 Questions

1. Why would, all of a sudden, every time I put a CD in my computer, instead of the CD icon showing up, a really bad photograph I took the other day (it was mostly of Austin's arm since he accidentally moved it in front of the lens when I was trying to take a picture) shows up as the icon for the disk? It does it on every CD I've tried - old and new.

2. Why does the University of Georgia keep calling and sending literature trying to get me to donate money to the Honors program? I wasn't in the Honors program. I have donated some money to the art school and paid to be part of the alumni association, so why does the Honors program keep trying to claim me?

It really feels like fall now!!!

  Go Dawgs!
The game was fun to watch on Saturday (a good break from the news!). Unless you are a Boise State Fan of course. And the Oklahoma game turned out pretty well too - go horned frogs!!!

  Prince
This is Mike and Scott's new dog. We think he looks kind of like a deer.

  I wonder who Heidi is...
Austin and I spent the day in Athens on Friday.

  Atlanta Gas Issues
Governor, Sonny Perdue had to sign an order to punish gasoline price gougers yesterday. My dad sent me this photo of a BP station in Stockbridge.
