  Thank you
Thank you Sania and Lacey for helping me so much with getting a website started. It has only taken me FOREVER to get the motivation to try to figure it all out. Of course I still have a lot of work to do to try to figure out how to customize the design and everything.

A sigh of relief
I am soooooo glad that the bar exam is over. Austin thinks he did okay. We don't find out the results until October so no use in worrying about it, right? I'm just so glad to have my husband back. Pretty much since we got back from our honeymoon we've been moving/unpacking/studying for the bar. It is so nice to know that we can reclaim our social life and start doing fun stuff again. I want to go see a movie sooooo bad. And the weekend is almost here - yeah!!!

  Spicy!!!
This is our spice rack that we got as a wedding present from my friend Ashley's mom.

Here are the rehearsal dinner invitations I designed for my cousin, Matt's wedding. I did the calligraphy on the envelopes too. I think they turned out okay.

And this is just a photo of a few of our things.

  BAR EXAM!!!
Ughh. Austin is taking the Bar Exam today and tomorrow. I'm so nervous. And we don't find out until October if he passed. I know he can do it though.

What a drag it is getting old...
I don't know if it is just a transition into adulthood or what, but if you are anything like me, the following things would contribute to you feeling old. They sure made me feel old.

• You actually enjoy yourself at a Tupperware party

• You begin to like about half of the smooth jazz/easy listening music that plays at work

• You consider not going to see one of your favorite band's concerts because the only seats left are on the lawn

• The cast of the Real World are all much younger than you.

• Your mother asks if you would like benefiber in your coffee

• You are at home on a Friday night, baking

• You cancel all of your other plans to stay at home and bid on an umbrella to match your patio furniture set

• You and your little sister are both married and she has a one year old son

  BellSouth
I remember back in college my phone bill used to say, "please make check payable to BellSouth in U.S. funds." I used to think about writing on my check, literally "pay to the order of 'BellSouth in U.S. funds'". I've noticed recently that they've changed to bill to say, "please make check payable in U.S. funds to BellSouth." I guess someone else decided to be a smartass.

  Thursday????
Wow, is today really Thursday? I've been a day behind all week. What a pleasant suprise!!!

  Telemarketing
I know that it must be an awful job having to bug people all day and getting yelled at all day, but it is awful to be on the other end of it too. I know that my when my boss gets a call from someone selling something he usually just puts them on hold indefinately. And I remember hearing a story about a friend who handled a credit card pusher in a rather unusual way. Instead of being mean or telling them to leave him alone he took the call and said, "Will you be my friend? I'm all alone and depressed and I have no one to talk to." Apparently he felt really guilty when she starting comforting him. She said, "It's okay, baby. I'm sure that a lot of people like you. You sound like a good person...". I guess you never know where you're going to find a nice person.

Radiohead... and more about the weekend
I got Radiohead tickets Friday. Unfortunately no seats were left, so I got 2 lawn tickets. I am trying to get Austin to go with me and he may under the condition that I go see AC/DC with him... Gross!! I hate AC/DC. They are just the worst. Oh well, maybe I will... for Radiohead.

The weekend went pretty well. On Saturday I went to lunch and shopping with my friend, Elizabeth, from high school. I got some new clothes and a trash can, which we needed. On Sunday I attempted to make waffles in our new waffle maker we received as a wedding gift. It is going to take some getting used to. Then I went to lunch/dilnner with my parents and Becca, Jake and Ethan for my dad's birthday (he was 55 on Friday). We ate at Longhorn's. Their tomato and onion salad is one of the best things in the whole world. Anyway, not too much going on right now. I am just hoping that Austin passes the bar exam. I don't want him to have to study this much ever again. Even though I see him every day, I don't really get to talk to him very much since he's so busy. Hopefully it will be over soon (the 29th and 30th are the days of the test).

  I'm back!!!!
Disneyworld was fun! I had such a good time with my nephew (and my mom and sister and my brother-in-law), but especially Ethan. I really missed Austin, though. I didn't really know how much I was going to miss him, but I did. I was so glad to see him when I got home. And he was so sweet- he had some pretty spray roses on the table for me and a Key Lime Pie in the refrigerator.

These are the flowers:

I AM SO busty today!! Ughh!!! I'm trying to get things finished up at work, so I don't have to worry about them when I am at Disneyworld next week. Expect some pictures when I get back.

  Georgia On My Mind
Okay, I know it might be kind of dorky, but I still get chills up my spine every time I hear Ray Charles sing Georgia On My Mind.

  Ethan
I can't have a weblog without posting a picture of my nephew, Ethan Smith, who I think is one of the cutest kids in the whole world:

  Why Fried Okra?
If you are wondering why my weblog is called fried okra, I will tell you. It is because fried okra is one of my favorite foods. When I was creating my weblog I was looking at my other friends' weblog and thinking, "what defines me?". With most of my other friends it is their religion or their art or something like that. For me, I am southern and I am a graphic designer. When I would get together with my family, some of our favorite foods were mashed potatoes and gravy, black eyed peas, fried okra, ham, collards, etc. Fried okra was always one of my favorites. My grandmother cooks it in corn meal instead of flour so it doesn't taste processed and generic like most fried okra that you can get at places like Morrison's or Church's. It tastes good. Ummm... makes me hungry just thinking about it.

As for being a designer. That is what I am, what I do. I might not know that much about web design, but I am going to learn! For right now, I just want to start blogging. I want people I know to be able to find out what I'm up to. I work at a place called Porter Design. Yes, that's me over there on the left. Although my name has changed to Elizabeth Jones since I got married. I like where I work. I have done some jobs for friends and family on the side. I just finished a logo for a band called "the Chasers" from Athens, GA. That's where I went to school, by the way, the University of Georgia. I'd like to think that I'm talented, but I need to work more on expressing myself through my art instead of just my boss and my clients.

  I DO
Here are some wedding photos:

  Hello
Okay. This is my new blog. I'm at work right now, taking care of my boss's dogs while they are in Florida (I work out of their house). My husband is at home studying for the bar exam and I am trying to avoid doing any of my work. I've actually been really busy the whole time they've been gone but now I've kind of hit a lull. I'll get back to work soon, though.
