  First conversation of the morning.

Me: We have to get up. It's almost 8:00.
Austin: (clapping) Congratulations!
Me: For what?! (I thought he was being sarcastic)
Austin: I don't know. I think I was dreaming. You put something interesting in a rocket.
Me: Oh, well I deserve congratulations for that.
Austin: Shut up.

You know it will be a good day when...
you spill a whole mug of hot coffee (cream, sweet & low and all) all over your kitchen floor and yourself and then bang your eye into the corner of a metal CD case.

  Happy Easter! - 2
Don't all families do this?

  Happy Easter! - 1
Since it is supposed to rain all day on Easter Sunday, we decided to have an Easter Egg Hunt for Ethan today. Actually, I guess it's Easter already!

Marilyn, Tony, and Marilyn's friend, Elizabeth visited Georgia Thursday.
I went over to my sister's to visit with them on Thursday afternoon. Here are the photos.

  Don't get me wrong,
I do like Metallica's music for the most part, but how pretentious of them to not even give a nod to the Beatles for the concept of "the Black Album." I was just watching a show on them and they were saying "we just wanted the album to have very simple artwork. By being a blank, black album, it said 'listen to me.'" So, either they are ignorant or arrogant. If they didn't realize that the Beatles did exactly the same thing years before with "the White Album," then they are just ignorant and to act like they came up with that idea on their own, then, yes they are arrogant. But, it is a great album.

  The life of a dog
I gave Holly a flat rawhide chew about a week ago and she has spent the last week "burying" it all over our living room. She has buried it in her bed in the living room, the pillows in the loveseat, the pillows on the couch, she tried to bury it in Austin's leather chair twice (I had to stop that immediately so she wouldn't scratch up the leather), and last night she even tried to bury it ON ME! Anyway, we got her groomed SHORT at the beginning of the week so she kind of looks like a large rat with giant fluffy ears and seeing her furiously digging all over the house is really funny to watch. Last night at one point she forgot where she buried the thing and kept looking around frantically for it. And right now she is carrying around in the kitchen looking for a place to hide it. She's such a nut.

  This is cool.
If you read my comment on the previous post you'll see that the label on the bottle of wine I was talking about was designed by one of the artists linked here. I also noticed that these were the winemakers who create the wine that Ralph Steadman designs labels for. So, I went over and looked at his website. On his art page I noticed that he included a print called "Early Georgian." That is the print he did when he visited UGA in my 4th year of college. I had the opportunity to buy one last year and we just got it framed about a week ago. The one we bought is colored differently than the one on his site (it is one of about 10 of the "Early Georgian" prints that he hand colored and signed). Anyway, he talks about his visit to Athens, GA on his website. I thought that was so cool!

I was at the grocery store the other day
and this bottle of wine practically jumped into my shopping cart. I, being a designer and all, always choose wine based on what the label looks like. The art on this particular bottle was so cool I couldn't not buy it. Anyway, we were watching an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy last night and Ted recommended the bottle of wine I bought. There is also a white version with an equally cool label. I might have to pick that one up too.

Ethan met Wyatt for the first time yesterday.
And so did Jake's parents, Mike and Diane.

Friday, March 18, 2005
Welcome to the world, Wyatt Campbell Smith!
He was born at 9:18 tonight (St. Patrick's Day!) and weirdly enough weighed 9 lbs 1.8 ounces, although they told us to say 9 lbs 2 ounces. He is 21 inches long and he has mine and my dad's cleft chin. Becca did great! She had some very painful contractions, so she asked for the epidural. The epidural made her blood pressure drop dangerously low - like 70 over 42 and that made Wyatt's heartbeat slow down, but they gave her effedrin and got it back up to normal. Once it was time to start pushing, she only pushed 5 times and he was out. Make sure to read Austin's story on his blog. Very cute!

Here he is...

  It's really time now!!
I'm headed off to the hospital now, camera in hand. She is 5 1/2 cm dilated and they are sending her to get potocin or is it patocin... doesn't matter... and an epidural. Yikes!!!

  Waiting
Well, the doctor said Rebecca was 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I don't know too much about all of this stuff, but I know she has to get to 10 cm and 100%, before the baby will come. They say that with a second baby, it will probably happen a lot faster, but we still haven't heard anything today. She has been at home, walking on the tread mill, trying to speed things up. I saw her last night and I think her contractions are getting more painful. She is having a lot of trouble moving around. Her sweet father-in-law drove up from Rome, GA last night so he could help her with Ethan, because there isn't much she can do right now. The doctor did say that the hospital would take her now, but she might she might want to be at home for as long as she can. So, all we can do is wait. Becca said last night that she really though he would be born sometime today. I think it will be today or tomorrow at the latest.

  I'm shaking.
Okay. I just got this email from my mom...

Keep in mind, it was raining - now picture this....I was driving Becca to work and came around a corner and there in the road was an animal who had been hit but he was moving his head around....so....I slammed on my brakes, nearly getting rear ended.  The bi**h was shaking her hand at me...I started screaming "F__k you" and shooting her birds and Becca and I pulled over and both jumped out of the car running back to save the animal....waving our arms around to stop cars from running over him some more.
Finish later...Becca called...IT'S TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, the animal was a raccoon. I'd better get ready to go to the hospital!

I just want to take a minute to thank Austin, or perhaps George Lucas
for the opportunity to develop a relationship with our mail man. Today, Austin received 5 packages in the mail and one from UPS. I don't think there has been a day in the past few weeks where there wasn't a package delivered. Thank goodness ebay is helping to pay for his obsession.

I spent yesterday afternoon with Ethan, Nanny and Great Great Great Mama (he said great a lot).
Of course I didn't remember my camera until the late afternoon after my grandmother had already left. Here are my Ethan pictures though...

My mom picked out Ethan's shoes

Most people smile when they say "cheese" but the next two photos show the face Ethan makes when he says "cheese"

Nanny and Ethan put together this track. Ethan loves his trains!

My mom colored eggs with Ethan on Monday for Easter.

Ethan wanted to eat 5 eggs. He ate about half of one!

Peeling the egg...

He said he just wanted the white with no yellow on it.

Then, he wanted the yellow, but he didn't like it.

Oops. There goes the white.

Is this a pregnant belly or what?!

  Maybe baby?
Becca is 3 centimeters dilated! That could mean tonight... or next week. We'll see!!

Only 6 days left for Wyatt to be born a Pisces!
March 21st is when Aries starts and Becca's actual due date is the 24th (I think). It will be fun either way. It will be really funny to have her two sons both be Aries. Wyatt would be the 4th Aries that I am really close to (others being, Austin, Ethan and Amanda, of course). Anyway, I'm sure Becca would rather have a Pisces just because she is ready to have him as soon as possible!

  OH MY GOD!!!
I am so frustrated right now. If it isn't one dang thing, it's another. I'm about to throw my Blackberry off the back porch or run it over with my car. I told you what happened a few weeks ago when I had to replace my two week old Blackberry with another. Now, all of a sudden my email has stopped working. So, I called technical support and the guy on the phone said that my password had been cleared and apparantly that isn't supposed to happen. He said that you can't clear out a password - you can change it, but not clear it - in other words, it is some kind of glitch that cleared it out.

With that being said, he said what he had to do is delete my account and create a new account. So he did that. In doing that, it meant I had to set up my email account to forward the mail to my handheld - AGAIN (this will make the THIRD time I have done this crap). So, I logged in for each link on the Nextel website, I had to wait like 10 minutes for the page to come up. When I finally got to 4th or 5th page of this process, it stopped. Nothing would happen. I hit the submit button and on my computer, nothing even started loading. On Austin's computer a "page not found" message came up. I have been trying this for almost 2 hours. I am not a violent person, but right now, I think I might kill anyone connected with Nextel or Blackberry if they were in the same room with me. I don't have time for this stupid crap!!! And now, I've been on hold with technical support for about 20 minutes. This is why people have heart attacks!

  My first website!
I think I've pretty much finished my first website. There is still a little bit of missing information, but for the most part, it is finished. Take a look and give me some feedback (if it is negative, please email me). Here it is:

  The Weekend
Nothing too interesting to report. We did go see Robots. It was really cute. The only reason Austin really wanted to go was to see the Star Wars trailer on the big screen!

Anyway, my sinus infection has just gotten worse and worse, so I went to the doctor today. This time they gave me stronger antibiotics, which will hopefully knock this recurring crap out.

And, I just want to mention what happened in Atlanta this weekend. For this Nichols guy to shoot and kill 3 (possibly 4 people), it was just appalling. It is so scary that he could pull off what he did in a courtroom. I am glad that Austin doesn't have to go down to Atlanta often, but it is still nerve-wracking that his job could be so risky. But, the good thing that could come out of the whole situation is that maybe security will get better and maybe it will be less risky. And, it will be scary when Jake is a policeman. But, I guess anything could happen to anyone nowadays, regardless of occupation.

  You ruined me!
This is a story from Rebecca about Ethan:

Last night, Ethan had a splinter. He was complaining that it hurt, so we were trying to get it out. Of course, that didn't go well. He was acting like we were torturing him. The splinter wasn't sticking out at all, so Jake was using a pin to try to get it out of the skin. Ethan jerked his hand, which made Jake poke him. He had a tiny drop of blood on his finger, and he looked at Jake with a very mean face and said, "You made a red spot. You ruined me!!!" It was SOOO funny!!

And, if anyone has any advice on how to get a splinter out, it would be appreciated greatly!

  And so it begins...
actually it begun at the beginning of the year. I'm talking about the new Star Wars movie. The first movie trailer was shown last night during the OC. Of course we had to watch it (in high definition with surround sound). I was actually extremely impressed. It looked really exciting. The OC, however, was AWFUL!!! Anyway, Austin is about to burst with excitment about Star Wars. He's so cute.

  Start me up
Well, my starter had to be replaced. Most of the past two days have been eaten up by waiting in the dealership for my car. Fun, fun. But, I get a free oil change the next time I go in there!

  Happy Birthday, Shanna!

I would rather stick needles in my eyeballs
than listen to the full version "duet" (can you even call it that?) with Jennifer Lopez and Fat Joe.

  No baby... yet.
Well, despite Rebecca's contractions and looking like she is about to pop and being incredibly uncomfortable, it looks like we might still have some time. It looks like there is no action yet. She's not dilated or anything. She did have contractions with Ethan for like a month I think, so Wyatt might make it to his due date yet. Although the doctor said that since this is her second baby, he might go in one day, so you never know!

  A Becca Update
Her doctor's appointment isn't until 4:00, so I guess they probably won't induce her until tomorrow at the earliest. Or they might make her wait. We'll see I guess.

  Jeopardy!
Austin had a great idea for the "Ultimate Tournament of Champions" that is going on right now on Jeopardy! He said that they should have Ken Jennings, when it is his turn to play, come walking down some giant staircase wearing some kind of robe and crown or cape or something. That would be so funny.

It is a blustery day in the 100 acre woods
The wind is a little crazy. Seriously, our weather has been rather odd lately. It gets really cold; then really nice (like 60s and 70s). Then it rains, and then it gets windy as the cold front moves in to make it really cold again. This is like a nightmare on my sinuses. I think I'm on the verge of yet another sinus infection. Blah!

Oh yeah, and my car is having trouble starting up right away and my printer is broken. But things could be worse. I am lucky about a lot of things.

  I think Becca might pop!
My sister is so pregnant right now. I saw her earlier tonight and she looks so uncomfortable. I watched as Wyatt seemed to do somersaults in her belly. That is the weirdest thing to see something alive and moving around in someone. It looks like an alien. In fact, I think if she doesn't go into labor soon, I think her stomach might just pop open. She has been having contractions for about a week now (I think - I've kind of lost track of time lately) and Tuesday, they will check to see if she is dilated. If she is, they will go ahead and induce labor. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. It could be anytime now!

I just heard Austin announce over the loud speaker,
in a very professional voice, I might add, "Attention Mom. Please come to Austin Jones's office."

I'm the one that didn't want a dog,
but I just love Holly! She is so funny. Yes, it is very irritating when she tries to eat rocks out of our gas fireplace and when she won't stop squeaking her toys while I'm on the phone with my clients, and when she gets freaked out by the delivery people who ring the doorbell to leave packages with Austin's daily dose of Star Wars toys (or "dork crack" as I like to call it). But, all of that annoying crap is also oddly charming.

The cutest thing in the world is her relationship with Austin. She just adores him. Every day when the garage opens she will stop what she's doing and freeze with her ears perked up. Austin will slowly sneak in and then make a coughing, throat clearing noise and Holly will run as fast as she can into the kitchen where she will jump up and down at his legs until he gets into the living room. As he is sitting down she is already leaping into his lap and covering his face with doggie kisses. It is just so darn cute.

It is also a lot easier to wake Austin up in the morning. I merely open the bedroom door and she flies up on the bed jumping all over him and licking his face. It is hard to get mad at someone who is that excited to see you!

Every day I give her a steroid to help with her itchy ears. She would probably eat it without me having to diguise it (since she will eat anything), but I hide it in a little bit of peanut butter to make it sort of a treat. It has gotten to be that when she hears me opening a jar of peanut butter, she is in the kitchen sitting down perfectly still beside me before I set the lid on the counter.

Anyway, sometimes it is nice to get away from her, but on days like these, when she has climbed up on the couch cushion behind me and has her head resting right on my shoulder and neck, I wouldn't trade her for the world.

These are from Friday. Rumor has it that Mr. Williams is retiring after the school year is through.

That's all.

  And don't eat that penny!
Well, I just finished filling out a potential jury questionairre for the District Court in Athens. It is just like the government to send a postage free envelope that is too small for the pre-folded questionairre that is supposed to fit in it. Thanks a lot.

My cousin Caroline is having her tonsils out today. I am thinking about her and wishing her well.

I am working downstairs today and Holly seems to have an insane amount of energy at the moment. She keeps getting into everything. If you happen to call me in the next few minutes, please ignore all of the squeaking in the background. We replaced her favorite crab toy since she finally tore a hole in her old one, preventing it from squeaking. She is now overjoyed at the fact that she has one that squeaks again. Ugh, I just had to pull a penny out of her mouth.

It is soooooo easy to get work done!

  Amazingly,
we woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground. It has already melted, but now it is snowing again. I don't expect it to stick, but it is prettier to look at than rain!
