When it rains it pours (except in Georgia, of course)
Holly had been recovering from her surgery (and she seems much better now), when all of a sudden Owen started running fevers that developed into some sort of virus (which has made him very fussy and clingy the past few days). My car needs an oil change and the back left blinker needs to be fixed, and the tires need to be aligned and possibly rotated. I was going to take the car in today, but I woke up with a very red eye that looks bloody. I haven't been able to get on the computer to do anything in days. So this is why I haven't blogged.

  Holly's horrible vacation
Holly stayed with my parents while we went to the beach. Everything was going well until Wednesday, when she started having problems going to the bathroom. They took her to the emergency vet that night and they had to cathedarize her and keep her overnight. My poor parents were with her until about 2 or 3 in the morning and then had to pick her up before 8:30 and bring her out to our vet in Loganville.

Our vet determined (after keeping her almost all day) that she had a stone in her bladder and needed surgery. So, she had surgery on Friday morning and my parents picked her up on Saturday morning. She is doing okay, but she's had a rough week or so. Anyway, here are the pictures my parents sent us. Thank you mom and dad for taking care of her and going through all of that!!!

  I bet y'all didn't even know I was gone!
We just got back from Panama City Beach, Florida. It was a very spur of the moment vacation. I think we decided on Tuesday (the 15th) that we were going to be leaving on Friday for the beach. Anyway, we went with Austin's parents and stayed in a beautiful house. It was a good trip, but I'm glad to be at home too. Holly and my parents had their own little "adventure" this past week while we were gone. I'll post about that soon too. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures.

  Ethan's Graduation
I know that from this title you would expect pictures of Ethan's graduation from preschool, but I was actually babysitting Wyatt. But I did get to see the video. It is hard to believe Ethan is so big now. I love my sweet nephews! Anyway, I did get a couple of pictures before they left. The rest of the pictures are of Owen and Wyatt "playing together."

  To Owen... (14 months old)

In the last month or so, you seem to be getting so much bigger and smarter. Your communication skills are growing so fast. You point now, and copy us when we make gestures sometimes. You are also babbling like crazy. You are saying a few more recognizable words like Holly, ball, and I think you may have even said purple and goodnight. It seems like you are saying more than I can understand because I hear new sounds every day - it is like you have your own little language.

You want to feed everyone around you now - me, your dad, your grandmothers, Holly, or anyone else who is sitting near you. Sometimes you even like to moisten the food before you give it to me, which is sweet but very gross.

You are getting to be a pickier eater. Your favorite foods are macaroni and cheese, hot dogs (I usually use turkey dogs), and grapes. There are a lot of other foods that you will eat most of the time, but you will eat these three things almost any time I give them to you.

Your newest obsession seems to be with chairs. You love to try to climb in your little booster seat and your baby einstein bouncy chair.

You also like to get into anything else that you can fit into.

When you play now, you stay so busy. It is like you've got a purpose. Like, "I have to push this fire truck around the house. It is my job." Your little hands, legs and mind work so hard.

You are still as outgoing as ever. You want attention wherever you go. You laugh and smile and flirt with everyone you see when we are out and about.

Thank goodness for the DVD player in the van. It makes long trips a joy. I can tell if a DVD is boring you because you start to fuss and complain. The baby einstein and the baby signs DVDs seem to keep your attention more than any of the others I've tried. I know it isn't a good idea to let you watch too much TV, but if it keeps you happy on long trips, I don't think it is too harmful.

You aren't walking yet. You are standing for longer periods of time alone and you also walk all over the place holding onto things. I think you know that you can get around faster and safer if you just crawl, so that's what you do. Whenever you are holding something in one of your hands, you crawl using only one leg. The other leg (always your left leg) just drags behind you. It is really funny.

Your favorite toys right now are things that roll - balls, trucks, cars, anything else with wheels. You also like anything that makes noise. Oh yeah, and Holly's toys.

You love your daddy. When he walks in the door after work, you perk up and say, "hi, Da" or "Dada!" And anytime I am not around, you would rather your daddy hold you than anyone else. It is very sweet.

You are just getting so big. It is hard to believe that you are the same little guy we brought home from the hospital. I love you so much. I have never laughed or loved like I have since you were born.

Love, Mama

Amanda and Steve's Wedding - The Drive
It was hot in south Georgia, but only a few degrees above the temperature in Loganville last week.

Owen slept for about 5 minutes on the 5 hour drive down to Waycross. He did fall asleep on the way to the rehearsal in Alma, though.

We stopped at Shoney's the morning before we all headed back to Atlanta (and surrounding areas). Owen loved the Shoney's bear.

On the road...

The scariest gas station - EVER.

This is where buses go when they die.

I didn't realize that this area was "Georgia's High Tech Corridor," but the signs to prove it were all over the place.

This is a horrible picture, but we saw this guy on the way down and on the way back. He was hitchhiking, but his two horses and weird camp were on the other side of the road. It was kind of horror movie-like.

Owen slept a lot on the way home.

  Friday Poll 5_4_07 Dates
Well, this was supposed to be my Friday poll question, but I forgot to post it before we left for Alma on Friday. Anyway, here goes...

What was the most romantic date you've ever been on?

Amanda and Steve's Wedding - Photo Credit
I just wanted to say that Corinne and my mom took a lot of these photos. And possibly others - I'm not really sure. Thanks, y'all! And, I still have a few more to post later on tonight from the party after the wedding, the hotel and the drive down and back.
