A few hours after this on Saturday night, Owen's first tooth started to pop through the gums. I guess that explains the tongue!

  Friday Poll 10_27_06 Halloween
So, what is your favorite Halloween memory? I loved roasting pumpkin seeds and carving jack-o-lanterns, trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, coming home to sort candy and trade with my sister. Of course, when I was in college, the best Halloween was when we had a group of like 20 or so people all dressed up going to downtown Athens. I was a drag queen. I had this weird outfit from my mom's mother. It was all silver and made me look like Bea Arthur or something. I wore a purple wig, fake eyelashes and huge heels. Anyway, Athens is the best place to see some really weird and creative costumes. We had a ball. The next year I was Miss Piggy.

  It's a tragedy...
Something has happenend to TiVo. So sad. No good shows from this week... Was Grey's Anatomy on last night? It was supposed to record on HD, but it didn't record either. No "The Office," no "ER", no "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" from this week. Oh well. I know it isn't the end of the world. But, I'm sad about poor TiVo.

  Okay, I admit it...
Georgia sucks at football this year. At least we won this week. And at least Florida State and Georgia Tech lost this week.

I promised Rebecca that I'd post today
I'm sorry my blogging has been so sporadic lately. Anyway, I saw a license plate cover on the back of a car today that said, "I'd rather be watching the Andy Griffith show." I thought that was kind of weird.

  Friday Poll 10_13_06 Superstitions
Seriously, how did it get to be Friday already? And, I bet you thought I forgot about the Friday Poll again, didn't you? Well, I almost did, but it is technically still Friday so I'm in just under the wire. So, my question today is (in honor of Friday the 13th), do you have anything that you are superstitious about?

  To Owen... (7 months old)

It is AMAZING to me that you are already seven months old. You have transformed from this little tiny squishy thing into such a beautiful, funny little person. Just in the last month you have learned to sit up steadier, to put your pacifier in your mouth by yourself and even to say "mama" (and you've said Da-da too!).

Your weight has been fairly steady for a couple of months now, but you are still a big boy. You are wearing 24 month clothes. Although, your feet haven't caught up with your clothes size. The feet on the 24 month pajamas are always really big on you. Your hair is getting thicker and it even seems to curl a little bit from time to time. It has been really crazy the past few days.

Still no teeth yet, but solid foods are going pretty well. You seem to like peas, squash and carrots the best. You aren't super crazy about peaches, but you'll eat almost anything I put in front of you as long as it is very thin in consistancy. If the food is too thick, you start coughing and gagging, but when I add a little water, you start smacking away. And you really love drinking water from a sippy cup. Of course you still like to nurse a lot too.

Your new nickname is "Slappy Jones" (from your Daddy) since you really enjoy slapping things (people, toys, Holly, etc.). It is getting much more difficult to nurse you while I'm typing on my computer. Most of the time you just slap my arm over and over again on the inside of my elbow. It isn't hard enough to hurt, but it is hard enough so I can't hold my arm steady enough to use the mouse or type. Last night your Daddy was holding you and you kept slapping his leg over and over again in the same place. He said it felt like Chinese water torture or something with this tiny little hand banging away at the same spot.

Your coordination is getting so much better too. It is getting easier for you to push buttons, turn wheels, and put your pacifier (and other things) into your mouth. You stay so busy nowadays. You like playing with your toys more. When I put you into your activity center you walk yourself around it in a circle and play with all of the different toys on it. Your hands and fingers move frantically as you explore all of the different buttons, levers, textures, etc. It is really fun to see how your motor skills improve almost daily.

You are still a pretty darn good baby in public. We often keep you up way past your bedtime at political and social events, but it seems like you really enjoy it. Until you get tired, you don't mind meeting people and having them hold you. Of course, when you do get tired, the sling is always a nice place to be!

At Gymboree, you seem to be more of an observer than a "doer." While all of the other babies are making noise and acting wild, you seem to prefer to sit and look at them all. The toys and other activities sort of interest you, but you seem more interested in the other babies, the moms and the teacher.

No crawling yet. I love that I can just sit you down on a blanket with a bunch of toys. You wiggle around and sometimes get in a crawling position, but I don't have to chase you all over the place. I am enjoying this stage while I can!

You seem to think your Daddy is the funniest person alive. Almost everything he does makes you laugh. Even if he yells at Holly or when he is just having a serious conversation, you stare at him and start laughing. Lately he will look away from you and turn back suddenly and laugh really loudly. You jump every time, but then start laughing, hysterically.

I love hugging you and cuddling with you. There is nothing better than having you reach out your arms to me when I am coming to pick you up. When my hair is down, you grab onto that for dear life and I have a hard time prying it out of your little hands. I love it when you try to suck on my chin or my cheeks. It is like big wet baby kisses! Anyway, I have never been happier. I love you!

Love, Mama
