Friday Poll 7_28_06 Fictional Places
If you could travel to any fictional place, where would you visit?
Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde
It is that busy time of month when work consumes me. Not only do I tend to become a bad blogger during this period, but I also become very mean. Then I feel guilty for snapping at everyone around me and turning into such a crazy person. I'm sorry.
My Brain is mush!
Since having Owen I think my brain has melted. I think I finished the last of my thank you notes (finally, I think). If you haven't received one, and you gave me a gift, please forgive me and my liquid brain and shoot me an email with your address so I can get your thank you note to you. I really do appreciate all of the kind gifts, cards, thoughts, etc. that have been given to Owen. He is lucky to have soooooo many people who care about him.
Yum... coffee
Have I mentioned how much I looooooovve coffee? If not, I really, really do. It is the best. And now, there are three (yep, that's right - three!!) places to buy good coffee in Loganville! There is the Jittery Joe's right outside of town, the Coffee House (a locally owned coffee place) and now there is even a Starbuck's right in town (like two minutes from our house and with a drive thru). Let me tell you, it is hard not to spend money at these places. No matter where I am in town, I am fairly close to coffee and that is a dangerous thing!
Friday Poll 7_21_06 Make Believe Words
Sometimes parents make up words for things. Sometimes it's the kids who do it. It wasn't until high school that I realized that most people didn't call cordless phones "go-phones" like my family did. Do you or your family use any made up words or phrases that most people wouldn't get?
My computer is MESSED UUUUUP!!!!
Friday Poll 7_14_06 Kevin Smith
Sorry this is a little late, but technically it is still Friday. In honor of Clerks 2 coming out, what's your favorite Kevin Smith movie?
Didn't the Wayans used to be funny?
As if
Snakes on a Plane wasn't bad enough,
Little Man opens today. And, wow, that looks horrible!!!
Rollin' Owen (I know that doesn't really rhyme but it is pretty close)
Owen rolled over yesterday. We were on the bed and he was trying to get to me to nurse. He was on his back and he rolled right over onto his front. Then he kept going and ended up on his back again. I guess I'll have to keep a closer eye on him now that he is becoming mobile!
Anyway, he has become very fussy since his shots. I thought he was teething, but the doctor thinks it might be him getting over the shots or reflux. I am going to start giving him Zantac on top of the antibiotics and Mylanta. Ugh.
My hand hurts
I basically threw my arm into the footboard of the bed at full force earlier tonight and it hurts like crazy. I am such a spaz.
Me at 3 months...
Owen's Four Month Doctor's Appointment
Owen went to the doctor today. He had to have four shots, but he did sooooo well this time. He hardly even cried! He is 27 inches tall (95th percentile), he weighed 19 pounds, 14 ounces (they wrote an up arrow next to 95th percentile, so upper 95th percentile???), and his head circumference was 43 inches (75th percentile). The doctor said I could start him on solids if I wanted to, but I could wait another couple of months since he seems to be gaining weight well. She said that he looked great, strong and healthy. She said she thought something about his face looked older than just 6 months old. And she tried pulling him up to a sitting position with his arms; he wouldn't bend his legs, so he just went right up to a standing position. It was really cute.
By the way, we also had Gymboree today and Owen had so much fun. There was another baby there and he enjoyed that. He laughed and smiled through nearly the entire class.
To Owen... (4 months old)
You are growing so fast, Owen. You are now pretty well into 18 month size clothing. It is becoming much harder to find cute, one-piece outfits and pajamas in your size. You almost weigh 20 pounds! We have a doctor's appointment on Monday, so we'll find out your official weight then.
You rolled over today from your back to your front, but you were on your back up on a sleep positioner and you turned towards me to nurse. Gravity had a hand in the rolling over because you kind of tumbled over onto your tummy, so I don't know how official it was. But you are very strong. It is getting harder for us to put you in your swing, carseat, and bouncy seat since you never seem to want to bend your legs. You stick them out as stiff as a board.
You are reaching and grabbing for toys more now. Most of the time when I get out of the shower, you are playing with a ball toy that is attached to your bouncy seat. You have also been enjoying being able to grab our hands and fingers and actually bring them to your mouth so you can suck on them. You were licking the numbers on the telephone earlier today.
You still like to nurse a lot, but you have now learned to use a pacifier! We have had to use the "MAM" kind that are for babies 6 months old or older, but you can keep them in your mouth much longer than any other kind and seem to be fairly content using them and that is a wonderful thing! I think you learned how to use them on our trip to Savannah and our day trip to the aquarium.
And, speaking of trips, you are getting to be quite the little traveler. Your "Papa" Mike has nicknamed you, "Goin' Owen" because we have been going so many places lately. While, you are getting better about going places, you are also getting much more vocal when you have become over-tired and overstimulated. You have quite the little temper and you let me know when you are ready to sleep by screaming. I just wish you would realize that you don't have to scream when you're sleepy. You just have to close your eyes and fall asleep. It will all come in time though I suppose.
You are getting more vocal in general. You are making all kinds of different noises and blowing raspberries and bubbles. You have also started drooling a lot more. It is so cute to talk to you and have you babble noises and smile back at us. You're going to be talking before we know it!
You also found your tongue this month. And I think since you found it, you're not really sure where to put it, so it sticks out a lot.
You and your Daddy get closer every day. You love to see him and have him hold you. Often, you seem to prefer him to anyone else. He is your buddy and you love to talk to him and laugh with him. He had you belly laughing at him the other night. It was so cute!
You make life worth living. I love you, little guy!
Love, Mama

3 Years of Blogging
I created "Fried Okra" on July 3rd, 2003. Since then there have been 1,564,280 (last year it was 542,571) successful requests for pages on my website. There were 30,576 requests in the past 7 days. On average about there are about 1,462 requests per day. There were an average of 4,367 requests per day in the last seven days. Almost as many people have looked at my website in the first half of 2006 than in all of 2005. My busiest month was March 2006 (10,508 requests). June was a close second with 9,920 requests. And the busiest week was the week of March 26, 2005 (2,787 requests for pages). I know that not many people care about these stats, but I like to look back at them out of curiosity.
